From Disability to Possibility -
Navigating Our World Through an Alternate Lens
Julia Bailey and Stephanie Mak
This workshop is designed to build understanding, empathy, and respect for people living with disabilities—not through assumptions or explanations alone, but through experience, reflection, and dialogue.
Disability is not simply about limitation; it’s about how individuals navigate the world, adapt to barriers, and use strengths, tools, and supports to live full and meaningful lives.
Throughout this session, attendees will participate in simulations that mimic challenges people with disabilities may encounter. These experiences are not meant to replicate disability itself, but to offer insight into how environments, systems, and attitudes can create barriers—or opportunities—for inclusion. Just as importantly, we will explore the adaptations, strategies, and supports that enable access, independence, and participation including a segment on how to create an accessible document.
